# Description
Shisk are the primary inhabitants of [[Kald/Locations/Shards/Vastuum|Vastuum]], a hardy desert-dwelling people adapted to the harsh, arid environment. Their sun-bronzed skin and lithe builds allow them to navigate the
scorching sands with ease.
Shisk have developed remarkable adaptations to thrive in their unforgiving homeland. Their eyes possess a second, translucent eyelid that protects against sandstorms, while their efficient metabolisms allow them to go for long periods with minimal water and food. They are masters of desert survival, able to find hidden oases and extract moisture from seemingly barren landscapes.
The Shisk, particularly the nomadic Saraqim, have a profound spiritual connection to their environment. They practice a form of meditation known as Listening, believing that the winds carry whispers of ancient wisdom and prophecy. This practice has led to a culture rich in oral traditions, with knowledge passed down through generations via intricate songs and stories.
While generally wary of outsiders, Shisk are not inherently hostile. They value knowledge and the protection of their cultural heritage above all else. This fascination with preserving esoteric lore occasionally drives some Shisk to venture beyond the borders of [[Kald/Locations/Shards/Vastuum|Vastuum]], though such journeys are rare and usually undertaken with great purpose.
Shisk society is nomadic and tribal, with different clans specializing in various desert crafts and trades. They are skilled artisans, creating intricate jewelry from desert glass and weaving fabrics that shimmer like mirages. Their settlements, when established, are often cleverly disguised to blend seamlessly with the desert landscape.
